☆Review☆ illi Total Aging Care Body Lotion

久しぶり、友よたち〜

Sorry I haven’t written in a while– recent minor surgery, along with a severe sinus infection (which is blurring my vision to the point where it’s quite hard to type a draft on my laptop) have kept me somewhat occupied with simply getting by every day, not leaving much time to find a seasonal job or run a fun blog as I’d previously hoped I would be doing right around now.

But I’m forcing myself to get my head (quite literally) back in the game, because having sat around for the past 2+ weeks just trying to cope with pain has been excruciatingly boring, too, and I’m desperate to do something productive again for the first time in a while!!

illibottle.png

Soo anyways, believe it or not, I’m not here to complain about how awful my life is, I’m here to review a body lotion by the Amore Pacific brand illi, from their Total Aging Care line. I’d already tried the Total Aging Care cleansing oil back when Fiddysnails gave it a rave review, and it was somewhat common around the r/asianbeauty community– so I already knew that I would love the smell of this lotion, barring the unforseen circumstance that the Total Aging Care line didn’t maintain consistent fragrancing among all of the products.

Thankfully, they smell more or less the same, as I’ll describe later, and it seems my dry, itchy shins (no mistake there, it’s not my entire legs, or even whole calves– just the fronts of my shins get extremely itchy and dry on occasion) have finally met their match.

Review tiiiiime…. now!

☆REVIEW☆ Marc Jacobs Beauty — The Conceal Full Cover Correcting Brush No. 14 + KVD Lock-It Concealer in Light 1

Let’s be honest: I’ve never had much use for a concealer brush before, as someone who breezed through their teen years with the enviable, ‘effortlessly perfect’ skin and little darkness under my eyes. I could probably count the amount of times I used it– or actually needed to when I did– on my hands.

Now at 22, and quite a bit more stressed out in my personal life (those dark circles are starting to come in :0 ), my skin has become…. oh-so mysteriously acne prone, and myself unprepared for how to deal with covering it all up.

Because I’d heard many people say that ‘your fingers always work better than brushes’ at applying concealer than a brush would, I tried that a bit, and found myself having little luck. Foolishly, I then proceeded to use my ‘Sephora PRO Pro Airbrush Concealer Brush‘ that I already owned (trying to save money) for months, not realizing that was for buffing out undereye concealer, and not covering blemishes– at least, it certainly was effective at the former, and not the latter. It just buffed the concealer right off the blemish, really.

So when my acne finally went from nightmarish to ‘hellish’, I decided to look up better alternatives on Sephora’s website, and ended up coming across one that had over 4.5 stars of solid reviews, despite having many, many reviews on the record– which is something you really hardly see on that site, if ever. If $30 could hide what was destroying my self esteem– especially while I’m still on the hunt for a job, and need the confidence for in-person interviews– (and also help me look cute again just for going out, or dressing up/cosplay), I was more than willing to pay that much.

And let me tell you. Oh, boy do I have before -> afters for you, friends.

I really came here to review the brush, because I’ve tried it with different concealers and it is really the changemaker at play here, but I’ll review the KVD concealer while I’m at it, because that’s the product I’ll be using in the review and B&A’s of the brush.

Let’s see how this brush (and the concealer!) stands up to all the hype~

☆REVIEW☆ SANA Maikohan UV Shitaji Base SPF 50+ PA++++

This was very much an impulse purchase, out of the curiosity to try a product offering both complete UV coverage (SPF 50+ PA++++) and the slight pinkish glowing tint of a makeup base.

Admittedly, I also had a strong desire to purchase something from the ebay seller Maco of Fictif-Nook. She is a Japanese-born expat (living out of the country) who has a rather unique selection compared to other Japanese goods sellers on eBay– but most importantly, makes it of the utmost importance to state her support for and desire to help those with disabilities and special needs. I was so touched and grateful (especially given the fact that in Japan, the stigma towards disability is exponentially worse than where I live in the US already, so she’s really unique in that regard!), that since I wanted to buy one cheap thing from her already, I threw this item and a tsubaki konjac sponge along in the order, too!

Even the exterior box of this item is pleasant and cute– at least in my opinion– so go ahead and follow the cut if you’d like to see how the product itself matches up to that presumption~

☆REVIEW☆ Warby Parker + My WP Glasses Collection!

warbyparkerglasses

Ordering my first pair of glasses from Warby Parker was a game-changer for me in so, so many ways– it marked a massive change in my style and diversity of eyeglasses (which I’ve worn non-stop for around 15+ years), taught me that I can buy quality glasses for a literal fraction of the price my eye doctor’s building sold them at, began my glasses-collection addiction, and so much more.

I’d become interested in buying more unique glasses recently, even buying some dirt cheap clear/light non-prescription frames on yesstyle and taking a bunch of selfies in them to see if they looked any good on me.

Read along below the cut to see how my journey evolved from a simple curiosity and pair of $3.00 frames, to an expanding collection of eccentric frames!

☆REVIEW☆ Nivea Extra Whitening Pore-Minimizer Roll-On Anti-Antiperspirant

This is one of my absolute favorite daily use products which happens to be of general East-Asian origin– and one which I don’t believe we put nearly enough thought into, or due credit towards ones which are deserving: Deodorant!

Though I’m sure I’m far from the first to write one, I don’t know if I can recall ever having read a deodorant review before. As I was reflecting on what to write about today, though, it occurred to me that I had yet to apply my antiperspirant for the day– and when I remembered that the little bugger is from Taiwan, I realized I should seize the opportunity to bring this lesser-discussed topic of beauty and self-care to the table!

Now, I first bought this product as an impulse purchase because it was available for dirt cheap on sasa.com as I was assembling a haul on there, and I also happened to be in search of a deodorant– any deodorant– that wasn’t the sort of chalky stick that I’d been using since I was 11 or 12. After an incident at work in which one exploded in my backpack– covering everything I loved and regularly used in goopy chunks that then reeked of Dove Cucumber Mint for months– I was hell-bent on swearing off any kind of deodorant that could explode in such a horrific manner.

deopackage2.png
that amount of emptiness reflects months and months of regular use~

So I decided it couldn’t hurt to try this: a cheap roll on, by a brand name I knew and trusted, with some rather outrageous claims (whitening? pore minimizing?? who looks at pit pores?) that I didn’t care as to whether they actually delivered or not– I was just hoping for a stable, trustworthy antiperspirant.

Let’s see if it delivered, huh?

☆SWATCH + MINI-REVIEW☆ SON&PARK Beauty Filter Cream

When you have skin as sickly-ghost-pale as mine, you often need to devise creative methods of tampering with your skin/base makeup in order to get the shades you buy to eventually acquiesce to match your actual skin tone. The most recent method I’ve devised– which I plan to write a comprehensive post containing many different products and example photos on soon– is to use asian whitening/”tone-up” creams in place of a white mixer, so I can buy a foundation or BB cream based on formula instead of just ‘this is almost remotely white enough to suit me’, then mix in the whitening primer to make it closer to my face shade.

whynosave.png

I bought this SON&PARK Beauty Filter Cream– a whitening tone-up cream- for that very reason (that is, to try for mixing in with my makeup, and to have a wider variety of products, including a high-end one, for when I write that future post), and I’m going to be upfront in saying, the most shocking thing about this product for me was the size of the container.

let me just… here’s a size comparison.

plssave
it fits in the palm of my ridiculously tiny baby hands, too…

…but you guys are here for some info on the product, not to stare at an old can of my father’s caffeine free Diet Dr. Pepper, right? Then, onto the swatches + mini-review~

[and no… it’s not called a mini-review because the product is really tiny…]

☆SWATCH + REVIEW☆ PeriPera Colorfit Tint Water Gel in 07 redbeanpress

Let me start by saying yes, that’s the actual name of this product in shade #07. redbeanpress; All one word. I felt the need to clarify because all of the preview press I’d seen, as well as the site I bought this from, advertised and sold me shade #07 as ‘Dona Redbean Juice’, though I was reassured by the fact that I had still received shade 07– and after years of using asian beauty and other lifestyle products, studying east asian linguistics (including a lot of Japanese language), and even travel to Japan, if there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that inconsistency among translations to English are more than commonplace. In cosmetics, especially, I rather expect them, and am almost more surprised by products with perfectly translated pachaging, hahah.

But anyways, I bought this product mainly because it was advertised directly on the promo material/stock photos as a MLBB– AKA ‘my lips but better’ (also, they use that phrase in Korea? nice~) lip tint– which sounded like a dream come true imo. I live for the longevity of Korean lip tints/stains (I pretty much stopped using all american lip products, save for the occasional–and also long-lasting– liquid lipstick. I literally haven’t bought a twist up lipstick in years), but they’re always such shocking shades of hot pink, red, and orange, which doesn’t match my daily look very well.

in the packaging– which I think is supposed to look like a juice bottle!

☆REVIEW☆ Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Gel-Cream

Let me be completely upfront about this: this cream is one of my absolute favorite skincare products of the moment. Among the holiest of grails. One of the HGs to end all HGs.

Initially, I actually learned about this specific item through noticing a lot of people raving it, among other creams and products from Dr. Jart+’s Ceramidin product line, over on– where else,– r/asianbeauty, then decided to buy it after being ‘talked into it’ on this Talk Me Into/Out Of” thread I started this spring– both on a whim, and out of curiosity as to whether other people thought the product was worth the hefty $45 price tag.

Well, as I said, I left that thread feeling pretty darn convinced, proceeded to order the cream from Amazon Prime, and all I can say was…. heckin geez, I was not disappointed, not even in the slightest.

If you’re in the market for a cream that feels soothing on your skin, is restorative and nourishing (without feeling heavy at all), has a buttery smooth texture, and can easily be layered for extra moisture, I’d recommend following the cut to find out more, because honestly I can’t say enough good things about this magic in a jar, hahah~

☆NIKO’s Favorite Sleeping Packs– 2 Reviews☆ Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask + Laneige Water Sleeping Mask [Refill Me! Lavender Ver.]

One of my favorite things about going to sleep at night is putting on my sleep pack/mask– the final step of any devoted nightly skincare ritual! I’ve used countless sleeping packs over the years since I really became ‘hardcore’ into asian skincare, but right now there are two that really stand out to me, to the point where I really don’t use any others but those two– depending on what needs I want to address that night, as they have different ingredients and textures which serve different purposes!

I thought I might do an in-depth review of both of those masks, given my undying love for both of them, because I feel the world really needs to know about their greatness, hahah!

Let’s get started!

☆REVIEW☆ Sidmool Natural Whitening Waterfull Cream + Sidmool Vitamin C Energy Waterfull Gel

I thought it might be best to dive right into my blog with a review of a couple of products I’ve been really loving for the past few months– two light moisturizers by a lesser-known, ‘natural’ Korean skincare brand called ‘Sidmool’.

Please excuse any awkwardness in formatting, as this is obviously my ~first ever~ blog review of a cosmetic product, but I’m going to try my best to be in-depth, and share the sort of information that I like to see when I read other peoples’ blog reviews, myself!

Here goes!
