☆Review☆ illi Total Aging Care Body Lotion

Sorry I haven’t written in a while– recent minor surgery, along with a severe sinus infection (which is blurring my vision to the point where it’s quite hard to type a draft on my laptop) have kept me somewhat occupied with simply getting by every day, not leaving much time to find a seasonal job or run a fun blog as I’d previously hoped I would be doing right around now.

But I’m forcing myself to get my head (quite literally) back in the game, because having sat around for the past 2+ weeks just trying to cope with pain has been excruciatingly boring, too, and I’m desperate to do something productive again for the first time in a while!!

Soo anyways, believe it or not, I’m not here to complain about how awful my life is, I’m here to review a body lotion by the Amore Pacific brand illi, from their Total Aging Care line. I’d already tried the Total Aging Care cleansing oil back when Fiddysnails gave it a rave review, and it was somewhat common around the r/asianbeauty community– so I already knew that I would love the smell of this lotion, barring the unforseen circumstance that the Total Aging Care line didn’t maintain consistent fragrancing among all of the products.

Thankfully, they smell more or less the same, as I’ll describe later, and it seems my dry, itchy shins (no mistake there, it’s not my entire legs, or even whole calves– just the fronts of my shins get extremely itchy and dry on occasion) have finally met their match.

Review tiiiiime…. now!

The most prominent thing about this bottle, in my opinion, is thick, solid material that the bottle/tub portion itself is made of. It reminds me of that material they make insulated and coolers and refillable jugs/kegs out of– the kind you’d take to the beach or a party and fill with ice and soda or beer– but a bit thinner, as opposed to the kind of floppy, squeezable plastic I’m used to with many cosmetics.

I’d almost be inclined to say it was of enviable quality, if there wasn’t this huge pump sitting at the top. vulnerable. just waiting to be accidentally tapped juuust slightly, so it can dribble a little lotion grease on everything you’ve ever loved (you can tell I’ve been hurt before, can’t you? I guess I wear my heart on my sleeve when it comes to vagabond lotion bottles staining my favorite shirts….)

All silliness aside, the pump head is quite oversized, and the only way to lock or protect it is to waste a HUGE pump’s worth of lotion pushing the head down to the base and screwing it around until it ‘locks’ (but even then, I travel with it in its own plastic bag on the road, because it’s had… accidents… before).

I suppose, to sum up this pedantic section in a tl;dr: container made of quality material, pump has a mind of its own and must be handled delicately. fine if you leave your lotion to live out its life on one countertop forever, I suppose!

I suppose I’m going to approach this portion by saying upfront: I do not like the texture of the product itself all that much. It is a bit greasy, as you can see in the hand swatches below (my hand is still gleaming in the far off light from my shaded porch when the photo was taken). I LOVE the texture of my legs after I rub rub rub the lotion onto it, and let the excess moisture sink in over 5-10 minutes of downtime after applying.

[be mindful, this is less than a full pump]
[see how it’s got just a   touch of shine to it left from the moisture that’s yet to sink in? ]

Despite any initial shine, slight greasiness, the few minutes it takes to settle in, and whatnot, all of those tiny qualms I may have are completely worth how utterly moisturizing this lotion is, and how smooth and touchably soft my skin feels after using just the smallest amounts. I am more than willing to take 5 or so minutes of downtime where I need to let the slickness sink in, because it really does sink in completely and leave my skin feeling heavily moisturized.

I didn’t even realize what a staple this lotion was for me until I found myself explaining to someone on r/asianbeauty that I have a lot of wanderlust when it comes to new, interesting products, and don’t tend to stick to the same products or routines for that long (usually less than a year for each)– but this has been my go-to lotion for some 2+ years, without buying tons of other lotions to try in case there’s something better out there. I bought one other (cheap) body lotion, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Body Lotion, because I hoped it would smell good, but it was so ineffective at moisturizing compared to the illi Total Aging Care that I never bothered straying and buying another different lotion after that.

The more I think about it, the more I realize how much I love this body lotion. The price is very reasonable for how much you get (and how much I actually use– about 1-1.5 pumps will cover both legs, which is what I mainly use lotion on). It smells absolutely lovely, and is deep moisturizing on my normal-type skin.

If it speaks to how indispensable illi Total Aging Care Body Lotion has become to me: the damn bottle is honestly awful for travel, and I’ve had bad experiences traveling to my BF’s parents’ house and back with it piddling on my stuff, but I continue to pack it (with the lid screwed down, packed in its OWN, SEALED ziplock plastic bag in my cosmetic travel bag) just because I want to have it with me that badly in winter (maybe bc my bf’s Viet mom is apparently really big on skincare, and since we can hardly communicate because language barrier, I want to at least look my best around her ufufuu)

I would recommend this lotion to anyone of any skin type, really, especially people who may be looking for a way to gently dip their toe into the waters of hanbang ingredients, or people who like the smell and feel of the illi Total Aging Care Cleansing Oil~

Phew, felt good to get back into the writing game, although, I have a sneaking suspicion that some of my articulations may not exactly be all that… articulate, or even sensible in some ways.  I hope you were able to bear with me, regardless ^ ^;;

I have more posts and ideas for such waiting in the wings for the future– it mostly depends on how long it takes for my infection to clear up and my vision to return to see how quickly I’ll be able to resume posting, as it’s taken me ages to write this post simply out of inability to read my screen clearly, hahah. Wish me luck on that one, I suppose!

Until then, I’ll be giving it my best effort to recover! Fighting!!

Bye bye、
